Mobile phone seems to be a must to most people nowadays. But thinking back to 10 to 15 years ago, that was really a pretty new idea. Pagers were the top toys in town back then. I remember there was time everyone has a pager or two. Every time we’ve been paged, we look for a phone to return calls or get the information like crazy. The most desperate situation is finding a phone with the note on top saying something like “for internal use” or “does not lend”. The scene has change completely in these years, beside the basic function a mobile phone can provides i.e. making a phone call and receiving phone call, It provides a wide range of functions; most commonly are such as digital camera or PDA function. And it out-looks are changing in months, sometimes faster than any clothes.
The step from pager to mobile phone could be a giant step ahead to connecting people together. But I doubt about any of these additional function has anything to do with connecting people together. Besides, did you ask yourself without the existence of mobile phone, does you life really change much or you just give in to the function of a mobile phone provides. Are we making our calls to the very last minute, are we more reluctant to make any decision where it should be making lot more earlier and etc. None of these have anything to with connecting people but on the contra, it pulls us apart and reverses our order of priority instead.
Seeing the Adidas and Puma are getting trendy again, I am expecting someday maybe the low-tech mobile phone with mono display will once embrace by the majority. Since I have one of these in use.
